Truth is Offensive

OK at the start of the month I left a comment on my friend’s blog, but as I sometimes do I got on my own soapbox. Having wanted to continue on my soapbox I decided to save it for later and write about it on my own blog. So I have copied and pasted part of her entry and then my comment so you grasp the full picture of how it all stared and came out.

Here's my thing today. I get so frustrated with THE CHURCH (ie) all believers. We say we want God. And we say we want to see people saved. But how many have actually brought someone to Jesus lately? I'm not trying to lay a guilt trip. But if Jesus is really making a difference in our lives, then why is it so hard to share Him? I don't think it has to be! Yeah, our lives need to be living examples. There's a saying that goes something like... "Share Jesus with others and if you need to, use words." But wheres the part where we go beyond words to explain why our lives are different? Is the whole concept of "actions speak louder than words" a copout in some ways because we're scared to talk to our friends about Jesus? Thoughts?

Hey Jenn, You know my heart is in the same place as we have talked about something like this before. I agree with you. I just finished my Theology of the Spirit Life class, and we talked often about how the Church is weakening by a number of different reason. I think Jenn that in today’s day and age we find ourselves wanting to please other people and not offend them... so we don’t share about God because its offensive to some. But we need to remember that the Truth is Offensive, meaning it’s hard to hear and we don’t want to hear it or even believe it. Hmm I am thinking about the day of Pentecost... look at Paul he was filled with power and him and the others couldn’t help but speak about God... with boldness. Man Jenn, I know I want to be bolder that I could speak the truth and not care what others thought even if they take offensive to the word of God. Church is being fooled and the enemy is sneaking into Church to bring us down from within... but here I go onto my soapbox, I think I will save this for my blog. Love ya girl and keep this burden close to your heart and challenge others to speak hmmm the early church was motivated to share the Gospel for 3 reasons, 1 love, 2 the Holy Spirit and 3 the confidence of Christ return. Christ's return is nearing... Will God need to use another donkey, sinner, or rocks to cry out?

The Enemy is seeking to bring the Church down from within... what a bold statement, like how dare I say that the enemy is inside our Church and that we are letting him work at getting us to fall. BUT we are. Take a look around, see where the church has gone and is going.... are they not coming out with new bibles that have no gender and make God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit an It? Are we not compromising the beliefs in our churches? Are we not watering down messages and the Scriptures? Are we not settling for 2nd best? Taking the road of easiness instead of the road God wants us to take… the road that is hard, that is dangerous, and that will lead to cretin death. Being a true Christian is going to be work, none of this, live life with tons of blessing that the church has been saying for far to long. We need to step out in faith, become who God has created us to become, fight the enemy that’s sneaked its way into the church and preach the gospel no matter who it offends.

So there I was checking your blog to see if it had been updated, it hadn't so I scrolled down to see if anyone else had left a comment when RED BLUE. Hey, what's going on here? A sneaky insert that's what. Anyways, in relation to the entry, I agree. Few of us North American Christians have surrendered all. We are pleasure-seekers and living with double standards. Most haven't paid the cost of surrendering all when Yeshua gave us everything. We indulge in the "feel good" things of the Word of God and conveniently don't have time for the sharper things God has said. We need the faithful Christians to be a light inside their churches, holding others accountable, encouraging their brothers and sisters, and standing for the truth.
